More than 351 people have been killed during the passage this week-end of the cyclone Nargis, in the south of Burma.

Electricity and telecommunications in Rangoun were cut when the cyclone hit the coastal zones during the night of Friday to Saturday.
Five regions were declared in the state of natural disaster (Rangoun, Irrawaddy, Pegu, Mon and Karen).

The cyclone Nargis, which came from to the Golfe of Bengal, was really violent with winds of 200km/hours and the international airport of Rangoun has been closed since Saturday.

On Sunday, the streets in Rangoun were filled with uprooted trees, billboards and damaged roofs.

The cyclone Nargis struck Burma one week before the organisation of Burma’s May 10 referendum on a new constitution.
